Nikon FA repair in Australia

My Nikon FA seems to have a dead shutter. My usual repair man, Van Tranh, in Brisbane says he can’t source parts. Who is the go-to for this sort of thing these days? Years ago I’d have tried Yoshi of Nagami Camera Repair, but he retired. The Australian repairers thread went away when PunkFunkDunk departed and asked for all his posts to be deleted.

Any ideas?

Edit: and whoever are the go-tos in the US and Europe would be appreciated. The camera has a lot of sentimental value to me, and I’d like to get it going.

Talk to Camera Exchange in Melbourne, they might be able to help, or point in the right direction.

Camera Clinic is sadly no longer doing repairs except for work for Leica Australia, I believe.

Here in the US, Nippon Photo Clinic in NYC seems able to fix pretty much anything made in the past 50 years. Fast and reputable, but yes, on the other side of the planet...

Thanks; all the Australian outlets, including Camera Exchange and Imaging by Design (was Camera Clinic) can’t source parts. If it comes down to buying another FA I could do that, but it would be better to find somewhere that already has parts. I think Nippon Photo Clinic might be my best bet. Thanks everyone

like many popular vintage SLRs, it will cost you far less to replace the camera than to fix it.

fix it only if THAT particular camera has special sentimental value to you.

Perhaps. But once a malfunctioning camera has been fixed and CLAd, you'll have the peace of mind that comes with knowing your camera is functioning accurately and will probably continue to do so for some time. Even the "mint" cameras on the auction site are a crap shoot. I have often made the decision to repair rather than replace, for just that reason.
Besides, the OP stated that his FA does have sentimental value. You can't put a price tag on that!

Perhaps good ones are more money. But all you need is the shutter....right?
