Shots from the first test roll on my new-to-me Nikon FE2 (courtesy of that auction site). I also bought Nikkor 50/1.4 and 28/2.8 lenses.
By the way, amazed at how small this setup is!

The FE2 is a trully amazing camera! I haven't shot with mine for a while, but I treasure my kit: FE2 + 55/2.8 Micro + 24/2.8 + 105/2.5 + 200/4

That 28 is a great lens. Another good one is the 50/1.8 E, which is a very inexpensive and light and small lens that delivers terrific performance. Works *really* well on an FE or FE2.

Hey, congratulations on the FE2! To me, that body is like a good pair of old jeans, I just feel comfortable picking one up and shooting.
That is why I have two! A silver and a black body now....wish I had a couple of lenses but that can wait. Enjoy!!!!

Me too. I've had several over the years. The only camera I like as much is the M6.

I missed a small full-frame body. I sold my M6 for my X100, and while the X100 is fantastic, missed film.
The FE2 is the same size as my X100, but with a pentaprism...oh yeah, the lenses are a bit bigger, but not much (my M-mount Biogon 2/35 was as long as either of the Nikkors).

You don't miss M-mount? Or is the rangefinder-versus-SLR experience of shooting not a big deal to you?

I like the M6 form factor quite a bit, actually...but I'm very comfortable with the direct view of an SLR. It's a bit easier for wide angle and close-up...obvious strengths of the tunnel-vision SLR form.
I'm happy to have a bullet-proof compact body with good lenses again...oh, and full frame

Helen--be careful around police folks with your Nikon!
really--just kidding!
My wife and I were in NYC some years ago--in Grand Central Station--and they had many potential police dog candidates in training. The police folks were leading them around, and naturally, we HAD to pet them. Hug them (the dogs.) They were ALL rescue dogs--and the cops didn't mind--for a while! All very friendly. Hope your recent encounters have been the same!
I enjoy your photos and the FE2 is one of the best. Get a 35/2 or 28/2.8 and you'll be right up there with Annie L!

I love that 35/2.0 as well. My picture of an old Cadillac shot with that lens even drew a compliment fron the famous Helen Hill on flickr! I'm thinking of having it bronzed.
