I want to pick up a Nikon FG for a light everyday carry camera when I want to run B/W film. I currently own a Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 AF-D lens which lives on my F100 and occasionally visits my D7000. Would this lens work on the FG? I know I'll have to focus manually, but would this lens function?

Or, how about the E series lenses?

Any suggestions?

Thank yo to all who reply.

With best regards,

The E series Nikons were made for the EM, FG, and FG-20. And you cannot use non-AI lenses on any of the three (unless they have been AI modified). Something about ripping the guts out of the camera if you do.

But nothing I have for reference says anything about the AF-D lenses, and I've never mounted one on my FG to find out. From what I do know about the construction of the AF lenses, there should be no problem. It is basically an AI-S mount with a slot for the focus drive which fits flush against the body mount, so if there is no AF drive, then nothing should interfere with the operation of the lens.
