Those are expensive cassettes in the e bay listing. Take your time and you can find some at a better price. Good Luck. Joe
P.S. Which Leica do you want it for. M1 thru early M6 take IXMOO and the screwmount camera's take the FILCA.

Does anyone have an idea of the going price for Nikon S-compatible cassettes? I paid on average $15 per piece a few weeks ago.

At the Ginza camera fair I saw a small box filled with them metallic cassettes. Some were labelled "Leotax", others had no label. I was gonna grab them but I wasn't sure if they were compatible with Nikons. I'm guessing not.

The Nikon Film Cassettes for the Nikon F2 are marked "AM-1" and are usually found in the "CP-7" plastic case.
I can check to see how many I have.
Thank you for posting about the AM-1 marking it made Employers Liability Insurance a lot easier for me to know i was getting the right ones

Bought a couple of Nikon F film magazines to use in my S2. But the timing (angular position) of the slot in the open/close latch is different from that of my F. (See pic). My understanding from the threads here is that F cassettes should work in RF cameras. Is my S2 out of spec? (looking at my F2, its tongue has the same timing as the slot of my F, so I suspect the F is correct. This will become clear when the cassettes arrive.)
My question is, can I reset the timing of the cassette-opening slot simply by loosening the disc with the two holes (in the photo), presumably a nut, with a pin-wrench and relocating the slot?

I just looked at 3 s2 cameras here and they all are as your s2 back as shown in photo , I know I have used f cassettes in the one camera and they worked well .
The f2 takes a different cassette that does not fit earlier cameras .
Not sure what the difference is though ,
The f cassettes are usually marked just Nikon while the later have a letter number code if I remember .
Perhaps the f is not as it should be instead .

The Nikon F2 cassette is marked Nikon F2 Japan AM-1 it will only fit the F2 not the F not the F3 not the rangefinders, consequently they are inexpensive, or should be!!
I have a rangefinder and cassettes and an F2 but no cassettes. What I can say is my base matches your base, rangefinder.
The F cassette will not fit the F2 , we know that!!, but is only just too long. If you remove the outer shell the inner part F2 mechanism engages with the inner part easily, the film "gear" engages and fully closes down. The F2 has two possible "open" notch positions though so I think your F is wrong. We will see

Well, the cassettes arrived, and as one would expect from your responses (thanks Chris and enasniearth), my F cassettes work in my S2 and don't work in my F. That's good because I bought then to use in my S2, but it'd be nice to also be able to use them in the F.
Do you think I can safely try to change the angle on my F per my initial post?

Pleased that is the case. I would post the F base query in the repair forum where the tinkerers hang out, personally I have trouble working out which end of a screwdriver to use.
