Nikon FM2 needs a forever lens

When I migrated away from Nikon DSLRs, sold off most of my AIS lenses (8mm to 180mm). Kept the FM2-T, more out of sentimental reasons and held onto 3 lenses: 16/3.5 Ai, NOCT and 75-150/3.5 E. Just one lens is a tough discipline to follow.

I will add that the ZF 2/35 was a standout in every regard to Nikkor equivalents. The dreadful Zeiss lens cap excepted (WTF?!? Really?)

50mm 1.2 ais.
Sharper as all hell at f2 and above, with the option for occasional wide-open loveliness/lunacy at 1.2.

I agree, and it is actually reasonably priced compared to most other superspeed lenses - probably because Nikon still makes it - that may not last long.

If 35mm is more to your liking, then I would also agree with previous posts on the Zeiss .ZF or .ZF2 35mm f/2 lens. I'm a 35mm kind of guy and that is where my heart belongs. The 35mm Zeiss is absolutely amazing and stays on my Nikon F3 as a permanent fixture. It is the last 35mm focal length lens you'll ever need! I searched for the perfect lens for a year and this was my reward!!!

Pros: Everything (Sharpness, Micro-contrast, Character, Pop, Etc.)

Cons: Definitely on the heavier side of things...

I also use the 35 ZF.2 but find the size is ungainly on my FM2 or FE2. It however balances fine on my F6 or D750.

Thanks all. It will be Zeiss if I can swing it. Otherwise Voigty 40mm. Good times.
