Any recommendation for a very good technician to work on a new nikon fm3a with a stuck shutter? Europe or USA.

Reasonable pricing and turnaround would be a nice bonus.

I second the vote for Nippon Photo Clinic. Very professional and knowledgeable, and able to service a very wide range of brands. Definitely the go-to folks for Kyocera/Contax as well as Nikon and others.

Maybe a web site, but he now works out his house. He has fixed Nikon film and DSLR cameras for me for years. He knows his stuff.

that's good to know. I have a FT3 that has a squirrely meter needle. Its' something related to the contacts on the lens mount at the shutter speed selector. Changing speeds will move the needle in an orderly way...and then all of sudden it jumps around. a slight wiggle of the ring will bring back order.

Some people have had good experiences with KEH. I don't have personal experience.

I bought a camera from Bellamy a long while back. Can't say anything about his repairs as they are outsourced, probably to Kanto. From what I glean about Kanto is that they are competent but overwhelmed , expensive, and very time consuming.

I have used KEH in the past. They did an excellent CLA on a Pentax MX, with a very fast turnaround and great communication. I would also guess that they have a huge amount of repair parts from dead cameras that they acquire from estates, etc., which might enable them to do work that a smaller concern wouldn't take on.
That being said, it seems from their website that they now have a flat rate for repairs. For something minor, the flat rate might be excessive. They do have very capable and friendly staff on their phones, so a call might be in order first.

Japan camera hunter?

Used to be a route, albeit an expensive and lengthy one, through which you can have access to official Nikon support - they even had parts for the logic board. Unfortunately Nikon Japan has stopped servicing FM3a since like last year. They would now take only the F6 and the FM10.

A stuck shutter though should be fixable by any competent repairman.

Any competent repair tech can fix just about any camera so long as any required parts are available (and sometimes even if not). I'd search for someone local.
