Nikon FM3A - the Good SLR

Not sure what that price bubble was, but if I add inflation to those prices from 2013 it only adds about $40 more. Try to find a mint one for that today. Also I don’t know what qualifies a camera as collectible but seems like many are currently buying these up.

Hard to predict the future, innit?
Closing prices on eBay are now average $650-750USD with extreme examples in the $900-1000 range.

Oh well, you win some you lose some...

Its not just the FM3A though. Prices are up on pretty much all film cameras. Zeiss Ikon, Mamiya 7ii, Contax T3 anyone? FM3A price rises look quite sane in comparison.

The best features of the FM3a to me are the easy flash compensation button and the very intuitively placed exposure lock beneath your thumb. The one on the FE2 feels like makeshift at best.

Although I have an FM2, I’m struggling to stop thinking about the FM3a. If I think rationally I can dismiss it, but if I turn my back my sub-conscious niggles and says ‘you know you want one‘.
