Episode 13 of the Camerosity Podcast is live, and in the short time since we started this podcast, this was the most fascinating episode we've done.

Our special guest is author and Nikon historian, Michael Wescott Loder who discusses his knowledge of Nippon Kogaku, plus the entire camera industry at that time.

If that's already not cool enough, we were also joined by Robert Rotoloni, president of the Nikon Historical Society, author, and all around Nikon expert.
If you have even a passing interest in cameras, whether Nikon or not, this is the podcast for you!

I listened to the episode this afternoon. It’s fantastic! Interesting details on the history of Nikon in the immediate postwar years, and competition between Nikon, Canon, Leica and Contax in the 1950s. Highly recommend!!

Very cool podcast! As a Nikon Collector, shooter and YouTuber information is always valuable, and accurate information can be hard to come by. Hope a follow-up episode is down the road.

eckmanmj Thanks for sharing this. Wonderful group of guests and depth and scope of contents being discussed.
I am curious, what changes were made to S2 black dial shutters so it can be motorized?

I honestly don't know! I will ask Robert the next time to talk to him! 🙂

@eckmanmj - Thanks for posting about this podcast. I've listened to a couple of episodes now. Very interesting and lots of great information in a podcast hangout format without shaggy-dog rambling. Really great.

Glad you enjoyed it Andy! When I was first approached about doing a podcast a couple years ago, I wasn't interested as I thought there were already enough film photography podcasts out there, and I didn't want to just do what everyone else was doing.

But then I had this idea of an old school FM Radio show where the hosts would have a call-in line where anyone could just join and ask questions, so that was the basis for the concept. With a podcast not being live, there's a challenge getting people to join when we record, so that it can be edited into a show to be published later, but it seems to be working OK so far!

You should join us for a future episode and steer the conversation to whatever you want! New show announcements are always posted on my page, https://www.mikeeckman.com and on the Camerosity Podcast Facebook Group! 🙂

One approach might be to have the questioner call a cell number and leave a message with the question on it. Then play it for the guests and get their answers.

BTW, now I have a reason to get back into podcasts, THANK YOU!!!!

That's a good idea, but we already have a Camerosity Facebook Page, an Instagram Page, and an email address for people to contact us through. In the case of this question, when Robert was back on the second time, we asked him and answered it in Episode 15! 🙂

Hello Mike - I've listened to all of your podcasts and am amazed at what I have learned. I save your podcasts until I am ready to develop film and then put them on. I'm caught up with developing and podcasts and eagerly look forward to the next. Talk about anything film related; I love it all.
