My old scanner is acting up, so it's time to consider another film scanner. I've located a mint condition Nikon IV-ED, complete with everything except the APS holder. Does anyone have experience with and an opinion on this scanner?
I need it for 35mm slides and negatives, some of which are cut into short strips of 2, 3, and 4 frames.
How easily does it interface with PhotoShop and SilverFast?

You really want close to 4000 dpi.

A Nikon 4000, 5000 or V will be 4000 dpi.

A pacific image 7250 pro3 is a decent scanner and produces a sharp 3600 dpi.

A Minolta dual scan IV has 2800 dpi and cost like $150.

I snagged a Minolta 5400 (5400 dpi) on _bay for $300.

Keep on looking.

I have a Coolscan lV and am pleased with it. I use Vuescan software. 8x10 and even 11x14 prints look good to my eye. I got mine for $250 CDN so no complaints here.
