I am interested in Nikon rangefinder brochures, and I was particularly interested in these, which I hadn't seen before, when they showed on eBay this week. The $49.99 start price was indicative of their rarity, but in the last few hours 2 bidders pushed the prices up to $459 and $460.

The same seller had a 3rd brochure in the series, for the Nikon S, which made a lowly $49.99. Still, the seller made nearly $1000 on the 3 sales. Not bad for 3 sheets of paper, and more than enough to buy a decent rangefinder. Or 2.

As soon as....

As soon as....

Dear Mike, and Fred.....
As soon as i'll received it ...will be a pleasure for me make a scan for us.:D:D
Steve.

Another little time and my, hope interesting, Nikon RF collection will be on the web...be patient.:)

WOW! I have a whole bag of Nikon RF brochures and sales literature I picked up when they were still in stock. I'll have to get into the closet and dig them out. Maybe I can sell them and buy an S3!

Well, I assumed there wasn't much Nikon rangefinder literature to be had. Clearly, I was wrong. I've never seen anything about Fred's This is Nippon Kogaku before for starters.

Steve, I look forward to viewing your website soon, and if it has scans of brochures on it, that will be great.

Fred... when i say only a few missing, consider that i have stopped my collection at april of 1960...
i try to explan well, my most younger collector camera is my, probably near birthday, Nikon F6414797.
So my collection started from My Nikon one and Yellov manual instruction until my Nikon F.
From NIkon F 6414797 to 2010 i have decided that nothing exists except my nikon d 200, now sold for a D7000, a marvelous digital shooter.
I don't think from 1946 to 1960 exsist 2 thousand of different brochures, but probably is as you say...

Missing one..

Missing one..

Here the japanese one:D:D:D

Now manual for S are all...

Steve,

I'll go through what I have during the weekend and send you a list. I do have a Japanese language brochure that features the SP and S4, plus a couple of Nikon RF ads. You probably have them all.

It could be interesting to share scanned copies of what we have with other RFF members. If there is enough interest I am prepared to centralize everything and set up a system where we can exchange stuff. Anyone interested in exchanging, please send me a PM.

One has to understand that there are many more Nikon RF cameras out there than the actual advertising brochures. After all the cameras are made of metal and glass but the latter is paper. Cameras tend to survive better than brochures.

Jan, consider yourself duly proposed, seconded, and elected as Nikon Rangefinder Brochure Scanning Coordinator. :D

Thank you James for your support. Especially since you are largely responsible for sparking off (and constantly reviving) my interest in vintage Nikon literature. :)

As said, I've been through my rather limited Nikon RF literature and will soon start scanning these. There is probably a bewildering amount of Nikon RF brochures, ads, price lists etc. out there, not counting the numerous variations everyone points at, but I think it will be worth the effort putting some of it in a so-called "digital library" for us to read and consult.
