I just purchased a Nikkor-S.C. 50/1.4 lens. Itsmint in every way except for a apeture ring that is extremely hard to turn. Any suggestions on how to repair, oil, or exercise out?
Just make sure the ring isn't hard to turn because the aperture blades are oily! You will destroy the lens by forcing it. The surface tension of the oil is sufficent to lock the lens up tighter than crazy glue can. Stu
It will probably be fine with a CLA(clean, lube, adjust), please note that oil may be why it's sticking, the organic oil used in these old optics can harden and become like goo.
I suggest to have a professional outfit do the CLA.
