Nikon RF lenses on M9?

How practical is it to get an adapter that allows the use of a Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 or Nikkor 85mm f/2 lens on an M9? Also would a Nikkor 35mm f/3.5 be adaptable?

I see that new adapters are available out of Hong Kong through eBay. I assume one of them would be my best bet. Any recommendations on a Buyer or brand?

AFAIK only the 35/1.8 can not be adapted.

I recommend Amedeo adapters for their mechanical quality. He's a member here and amedeo.m on ebay.

Remember that an adapter can only bring up one set of frame-lines.

Both 50/1.4 and 85/2 come also in LTM and are excellent lenses on a Leica.

I'd read that the 35mm might be out of the question.

I rather assumed that a LTM adapter would be better than an M-Mount adapter. Then use a LTM-to-M adapter to bring up the right framelines.

While you can get them in LTM, I tend to suspect that would cost more than an adapter. For me the more important consideration is that these lenses are something of a family heirloom.

The 35/3.5 shouldn't be a problem. The 35/1.8 doesn't work due to large rear element. But check with the seller ...

Your 35/3.5 will mount. See this list compiled by RFF member jonmanjiro. I have the amedeo Nikon-s to Leica-m adapter, and it's a beautiful piece of work. Amedeo is also a member here.

I have the 50 f/1.4 with Amedeo adaptor, on the M9.

Quite a sharp lens even wideopen, but with nostalgic rendering. Note it also has a long focus throw...

Can't do the 5cm f1.1 lenses on the M9 / M8 either. Lens size interferes with the focus cam at infinity.

Unless I'm missing something, I see no reason why a Nikkor lens in LTM mount would not work perfectly with a Leitz LTM>M adapter on the M9. Both the 5.0cm/1.4 and 8.5cm/2.0 work flawlessly on my M5.

I believe the OP is talking about the S-mount nikkor lenses. Yes, they are indeed gems.

Got the Amedeo adapter very recently and agree that it's made very well. The focus throw is very long, and goes the "other way", so it takes some time to adjust.

I finally got the Nikon S and lenses last Saturday. It turns out there are two 50mm f/1.4 lenses, so I'll have to figure out which is nicer. The one on the camera looks okay (the other is on a Argus enlarger), as does the 85mm f/2. I ordered the adapter this morning. I can't wait to get the adapter and give it a try!

On a side note, there is also a 35mm f/3.5, and plenty of accessories. I'll have to get the Nikon S CLA'd before I can give it a try. It's a most impressive looking piece of gear.

It looks like they focus to about 83cm, not sure the exact distance as I can't seem to find my yardstick.

I got the adapter today, I've only taken a couple test shots with one of my 50mm f/1.4 Nikkor's, but I think I'm going to like it! In fact I'm already considering purchasing one of his Contax adapters!
