Thanks for the link John.
Leaving out the optical/mechanical RF and replacing it with LCD
framelines and a patch substitute in the finder is actually real
smart I believe. Also, if sharpness is measured continuously via
contrast from the sensor, it means the camera will have no mechanical
shutter and be quiet.
Some great ideas there. Hope it does make it into an affordable product.

FWIW (again), I read somewhere else that maybe Nikon will have Cosina build the body under license.

zeiss/cosina seem to have set on conquering the world now.

That would be very nice - though I think the 35/1.8 doesn't work on these S/M adapters because of clearance problems.ferider said:

I cannot read Japanese, but is it in the S-Mount that is compatible with the older Nikon rangefinders?
I read that the lens is supposed to have auto-focus? So it's not a MF focus rangefinder?

I have to say that I can't seriously believe that Nikon would make an 'FX' camera which is not compatible with the F mount. The whole point of 'FX' is to get the full benefit from the range of F mount lenses. If they produced this camera with a new lens mount, there would be no reason for existing Nikon owners to buy it and, by the description given here, not much reason for anyone else to do so either.
