Folks,
I have a story to tell, here is my FIRST Nikon RF camera
MVC-019S.JPG

I bought this camera back in 2001 and sold it here on RFF back in june of 2006, here is the original ad:
http://www.rangefinderforum.com/photopost-classifieds/showproduct.php?product=390&cat=500

I sold it to a member in California who had it for a few months and sold it to a member in Canada. I spotted camera number 6097263 on ebay a few months back so I sent a PM to the member in Canada...turned out he had sold it!

Fast forward to a week ago, I get a PM from a member offering me to trade it with the Nikon S2 I had in classified!

To make the story short, 6097260 is back but without a lens and it now has some scratches because of a Jupiter!!

I did get the last owner to promise me to double his posts!!;) and file down his Jupiter:angel:

Nikon S anyone?:p

Kiu

Nice camera! I hope you don't go sell it again. I remember looking a lot at that ad, and only with the greatest effort could I contain myself from sending a pm...

The Nikon RF cameras are definitely on the "try-out" list. I am a bit partial to Nikon SLRs (F2) and the Non-AI lenses so one of these days I may get some crazy idea. Wanna swap for a Leica IIIf and some assorted trinkets? :D

Jon-San.. I believe it's Karma!!
I'll bet the S2 will come around too..

Mig
....from Mozambique with an S2 Black Dial!!

Kiu made me promise to post more if he traded me the S2 for the S....in fact I think it was a part of the agreement...

Yes I have been biten by the Nikon RF bug...been a Nkion SLR guy for many years and this year I am going down the Nippon slippery slope thanks to several of you on the forum. The S was a nice start and I am really looking forward to the S2. Who knows after I build up a couple of lens I see an SP in a year or two...depends how the love affair matures.

So Kiu - post #10 is hats off to you for the neat bit of that old S's history...a

Kiu: So you recommend the S2 as a starting Nikon camera for me?

Raid
Yes, I recommennd the S2 for a starting Nikon RF camera.
Most people that start with the S seem to be turned-off by the knobs and the slower operation.

Kiu

Your point is well taken, Kiu. Brian Sweeney also once advised me to get started with the S2.

The finder of the S2 is also a huge improvement over the S.

The Finder of the Nikon S is still better than the Barnack Leica it compares to.
The reason I recommend the S2 is because it compares more to a Leica M3,also there is a bit of history too,The S2 is the FIRST Japenese camera with a wind lever!

Sold on ebay...Back to Canada it goes to a new owner!
