Somehow, now that I've had a Nikon S2 for close to two years, I would like to handle, perhaps buy, an SP or S3. I went as far as to look for them online (prices and real-life needs sometimes turn off the lust) but the itch is still there.

I need another Nikon as much as I need a hole in my head. What do you guys do when you have this mild GAS issues?

I'm going to load my S2 with some decent B&W film and use it this weekend. In these cold days, it's becoming my main user (vs my metered Leica bodies).

See ya! :)

resistance is futile

you need an SP for 50 and a S3 for 35 :D

given the fact that you own the S2 already i'll have a closer look at a good user S3, or one of those re-editions in black .

I had, and sold, a black S3 2000. Possibly the most beautiful camera I've owned, up the with a black Leica MP3.

Tough call Francisco! Enjoy that S2...great body for a 50mm!

As said above, I'll load my S2 with some color film or B&W and shoot it this weekend. I spent some time last night cleaning the external windows and playing with it.

Yet... the notion of an S3 with a 35mm lens isn't leaving my mind that easily...

The problem with the SP is that you then feel compelled to buy an 85mm and a 28mm. And every time you shoot with your S3, it keeps reminding you how much you need a 105/2.5.

...let go Luke. :D
You do not want to wait till you can no longer see well enough to experience the pleasure of owning an SP (vintage or 2000 reissue). :p
In my life I have found that settling for less will cost me more, in the long run. I can not remember all the compromises I have made trying to appease my desire for (fill in the blank), only to find myself going for whatever it was I wanted initially.

Very convincing argument, Mike. I have noticed that the patch in my Nikon S2 is a bit faint, but then, it reappears when I move the camera (or myself). The fact that I wear glasses adds to the iniquity...

I'm just getting geared to buying something this summer. I'd like a new body and a new lens (a 35mm f2.5 at least). Who knows? I'm slowly getting used to the 50mm focal length with this S2 and with my Leica M3. As long as I don't need a viewfinder, that'll do it for me.

Time to keep the eyes peeled and search for deals! :)
