A quick heads-up to other Nikon Coolscan CS 9000 ED users: Nikon Scan 4.02/4.03 will crash when attempting to save a image as NEF if EMET/DEP is active (as advisable due to the current IE security issues).
It seems to be an issue with some dependent service or program, as deactivating EMET for Nikon Scan itself will not fix it. The workaround I use is to set DEP to Application Opt-In (rather than the default Opt-Out) system-wide, and configure IE, Acrobat, Java and all other notoriously exploited software explicitly.
