Sover Wong certainly sounds like the guy if you're in the UK. The only issue I have is the three pages of other people's 'mistakes' that he chooses to put on his site ... I don't agree with that approach to convincing potential customers that you are indeed a competent tech.
If you are that good your work should speak for itself ... and obviously he is so why bother with that sort of stuff?
Keith,
I hear what you are saying however I think Sover is so keen on F2 Nikon that he doesn't want to see them ruined or gashed by incompetent techs with the wrong tools. I'm very suspicious of anyone messing with my mechanical stuff and it only ever goes elsewhere if I can't do it myself.
This inludes everything from cars, motorcycles, watches to washing machines etc etc.
My experience with Sover started when I bought an F2 that had been serviced by him and then an F from the same guy. They worked perfectly and looked like they hadn't been touched. No screw head scrapes or tiny scratches anywhere. I still have the F2. I subsequently sent off 2 more F2's to him and they came back with photo reports and a shutter timing sheet each.
Two weeks ago I received back from Sover, my black Apollo F after it's 1st service (1st time the mirror box has been out) and it feels like a different camera. Winding is so smooth now and the body is cleaned out and now free of nearly 40 yrs of dust and sand! Shutter times are more accurate than when it left the factory. I've shot a couple of rolls on it and it operates as new.
I really wouldn't send F or F2 Nikon anywhere else.
Leica gear always goes to Will van Manen when repairs are needed.
I've also used CRR Luton for an M4 in the past and Peter's work is also amazing.
These people are, to me, craftsmen who seem to care about the end result and not just the money you are paying them,
