I have a Nikon SP meter. It is not functioning. The meter is very good condition cosmetically as well as the camera. I could pay the money and have it repaired. I doubt I will. If I ever, God forbid decided to sell the camera. Would the camera without the meter affect the value of the camera?
It's best to sell them separately. A working meter is nice, non-working is a shelf piece. Unless the body is close to mint, the buyer will want to use it.

Yep, the body is black and pretty darn close to mint. I feel nuts for using it sometimes.

It's even easier to send it to George Milton at Quality Light Metric.
These meters are certainly not worthless, I just sold a nice working one for $300.
Even dead, they're worth some money. I sold a nice clean one with dead cell for $100 not that long ago.

That's what I'm thinking. I can use the money towards a 10.5cm f2.5 lens.

I would not sell but instead restore it - a working SP meeter is one of the things that is on my wish list!

These things won't last forever no matter how hard one tried to take care of them, the next person who's hands it falls into may not be so kind.
I'm sure the SP wouldn't want to die without have a few good rolls of film run through it. The longer its sitting on the shelf the more great shots it's missing.
At the end of the day it's only worth so much...

Cost maybe different for everyone depending on what's needed. I payed $68 to get mine repaired.
I think $21 for UPS Ground shipping is excessive though. But, I payed it.

I got my meter back tonight in the mail. Hah! It's sweet! I also have a Nikon 3.5cm f2.5 thats arriving tomorrow. I'm getting addicted to Nikon RF's.

You make it sound like the addiction hasn't really started yet

Congrats on the Nikkor 35/2.5. Nice little lens

I know. I'm delusional. In 2 months. I have gotten a Millenium 50mm, Nikon S3-2000, Nikon 3.5mm f2.5 and an SP meter (repaired).
Life is good.

The good thing about Nikon RF as a shooter is that there isn't that much to choose from (although the available choices are high quality), so once you've picked up a few nice items, there isn't much else to leave you wanting.

That's not quite what we call "addicting" yet. Trust me, you will get there soon enough
I could have used the money to buy a new Noctilux if I wanted but I chose to get a set of nikon rf instead. No regrets.
