Hi all,
New member here.
I'm helping my friend clear out his old camera equipment and I noticed a rather huge case:
More pictures here:
http://picasaweb.google.com/lattiboy/KievNikon#
I believe this is the case for a Nikon SP and a Nikkor-N f/1.1 with the crazy hood attachment.
Does anybody know the real-world value of this? I see some pretty crappy looking ones for ridiculous prices over on ebay:
http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_tr...ikon+RF+SP+1.1+Case&_sacat=See-All-Categories
But I can't find a completed sale.
This one looks pretty amazing, except for a tear on one of the button clasps. It could be easily fixed to new condition in about 10 minutes, but I figured it would be better to let a collector do it.
Thanks for the help
PS I'm also joining because I'm purchasing a Yashica Lynx 14 soon. Didn't want you to think this would be my only post

That's the weak spot with these things and collectors know, most serious collectors are looking for one that's intact, not one that needs repair.
IMHO if you listed on ebay it would fetch between $200-$400, I don't pay much attention to asking prices.
Another option would be to contact Kevincameras or KEH for a quote.

Thanks for the help guys. Here's to hoping I get a "newbie collector" who pays more
I put it up on ebay for $500 obo. I figure it's worth a shot. We'll see what develops.....

$50 would be a nice starting price on ebay.
What's interesting is that your friend has a late 13.5cm f3.5 in Nikon Mount! Among his Kiev Arsenal!!
I wonder how good that combination worked-out for him?
Now, a question--Did your friend actually use the case for his Kiev?
Make sure that doesn't get mentioned in the ad.
BTW:
Welcome lattiboy

Ha! I know, it's a weird setup. I'm pretty sure this was all just stored in a leather case. His father was the RF junkie, he mostly shoots medium-format.
I know the $500 price might be a little nuts, but I figure it's worth a shot.
Thanks for the welcome, I look forward to getting my Lynx and becoming incredibly frustrated learning a whole new way to focus
PS While I'm asking about value, does anything else stand out to you in that case? I know the Kiev/Jupiter stuff is pretty low-dollar, but I figured some of the Nikkor stuff might have a bit of value. Some of the blades have visible fungus on them, but the aperture moves smoothly. I would guess it doesn't matter with manual control stuff, but I'm a bit out of my depth here.

Just about all of them have some stuff on the blades.
I see a Nippon Kogaku zoom finder worth about $50-$100 and the mentioned Telephoto lens worth about $100-$150.
Don't know about all that Kiev stuff, but that could very well be another couple hundred...Funny all that old stuff could be worth $1000.

It's not, I don't see a 'C' on the barrel.Should work fine, if it's in Contax mount.
Does this finder have anything engraved on the shoe?

Serial number? Made in Occupied Japan?

It says simply "Japan" and has serial number 333379.
Again, thanks for the information guys. It's very tough to find on your own if you're totally unfamiliar with the system.
The Kiev has a Jupiter-3 on it, in Contax/Kiev mount. They typically run $75~$125 depending on condition. The J-12 and J-11 run $30~$50, the Jupiter-9 runs $50~$75.
The Nikkor 13.5cm F3.5 runs $75~$125 depending on condition. The longer lenses are the least popular these days.
