Hello,

i´m very interested in buying a Nikon SP. But what´s about any service. Is it possible to give it to the german Nikon-Service?

Thanks for any advice

Thanks for your answers.

I wanted to know the service for the reissue model.

Since they were a limited edition model sold into the Japanese market only (with exceptions), almost all SP 2005s came with a Japanese domestic warranty (not international).

I know of one SP 2005 sold in America that came with USA papers. For repairs under warranty, I expect that the camera would have to go back to Nikon in Japan.

I once asked service for my vintage Nikon S2 here in Finland - in case I need a shutter speed adjustment - and I was told that also a skilled Leica repairmen should be able to do that. Official Nikon servicemen here in Finland have hardly seen many Nikon RF-cameras. :)

It's not a complicated camera inside. That's why most of them are still working 50 years later. The rangefinder itself can be adjusted by the user with a jeweler's screwdriver (though care must be taken not to scratch paint on the new version.)

Does this mean that cameras bought in Japan and shipped to the USA would be considered gray, and therefore not under warranly, who knows?
You bet!!

wonder what kind of warranty Nikon Kiu got with his SP 2005???
You wouldn't believe it if I told you!!

I've asked Will van Manen in the Netherlands if he could service my Nikon S2. He said he hadn't seen many, but was confident he could. I haven't yet brought mine for a CLA (it needs a bit of grease to get the focus squeek out and a VF dust out, but I haven't yet brought it. Ask him: http://www.kamera-service.info/
