I have to SP, one chrome and one black. Both shutters look identical. They obviously don't look like cloth, in particular when comparing to my other S2 and S3. Does it mean that it is titanium?

If the serial numbers of your two SPs are 6214*** or later, the shutter curtains are titanium same as the Nikon F, F2, and F3.

If the serial numbers are earlier, the shutter curtains may have been upgraded to titanium.

Thanks a lot. One is 6207192, and the other is 6233133. So the first one may have been upgraded to titanium. I bought both at the price of cloth shutter, lucky man!!

And I just bought a SP limited addition of around US$4600. This is definitely cloth, a good comparison.

4600$ ? yuks... I am willing to pay 3000$ for the whole kit BNIB. There is brand new one on ebay selling for 3800$ and no one touches it.

The 6233133 is black but I am wondering whether it is the original colour.

That's the highest serial number I've heard of for an SP. I've seen 6230xxx, 6231xxx, and 6232xxx SPs, but never a 6233xxx SP. Is it really 6233133 ???

Not true, those guys picked up a heap of them from Ritz Camera NOS when they had that bought of financial troubles. I got mine for them for a great price, the one before mine sold for $200 less and the one ofter me for the same price. They were awesome to deal with. They raised the prices a bit when they saw what demand their was. I'm very happy with my SP Limited! I just wish I could get a M-mount 35/1.8 that focused to .9 or closer.

I don't have any photos handy, but the titanium shutter material has little vertical rectangular bumps on it, visible from the front when you remove the lens.
