Well over half the "Nikon rangefinder" auctions on EBay are these doo-hickies. I have no idea what they do, but there appear to be more of these than RF cameras, and they all bring pretty good money. Maybe we're collecting the wrong thing.

It's a rangefinder - so that's what it does - measures distances. In this case for hunting.

Yeah, I have seen these before too, people use them to measure distances for whatever reason, the one I saw was being used for golf.

They are used for Golf for 2 reasons, one is they tell the golfer the distance from the players ball to the pin or hole, and the second reason is that Tiger Woods can not hear the shutter click. :0
