Just picked up a working Nikonos II with 35mm lens for $15. It has a couple of issues that I hope to fix. One of the problems is a hazy/foggy viewfinder. Is there an easy way to take apart the optics for cleaning? I've studied online and I don't see how it comes apart for service
PS-Other issues: broken tab on cast aluminum body for separating outer shell. Shutter crate separating from top shell- broken screw.

I have a II and a III - I haven't had the II apart, but they look like they are built pretty similarly. On the III, to get the top cover off, first you remove the little nut at the bottom end of the film wind shaft (at the bottom of the shutter crate), and pull the wind lever and its shaft out the top ... then you remove the hex bolt inside the lens mount that holds the top cover on. On the III, the rewind knob stays attached and comes off with the top cover.
Now, having said all that, I don't know if this will get you any closer to the inside of the optics of the viewfinder .... I've never taken that apart. I'll be happy to share the notes that I do have from the III, if you're interested. rick.oleson@gmail.com

Sounds complicated
Is there an easier way to get at just the viewfinder?
I used some heavy duty epoxy to make some repairs today...hopefully it will hold.
