Okay, so I just bought a "BGN" Nikonos III from Keh.
(frankly, other than the baseplate, it's what I'd call "EX")

Here's my problem-Nikon doesn't have the O-rings for the III anymore.

Now, I'm never going diving with this thing-it's more of a "crappy weather-street photography" camera-BUT I would like it as waterproof as I can get it for rainy days.

Does anyone know what size the main body O-ring is ? I've managed to find out what size the O-ring for the lens is,but I can't find the size for the main O-ring anyplace.

I have read on some forums that there is an alternative source of equivalent rings and the source was named but do not recall where. Best i can suggest is google. I am pretty sure they are out there as was tempted to buy a nikonos 5 awhile back having owned one in my diving days and researched it.

If you can find an industrial oil-seal making place (Yellow pages maybe) they can probably make you a strip of neoprene the right length, and join it in to a loop for you, as that is a fairly standard service for odd or old sizes. This presupposes that the Nikonos seal doesn't have a very unusual profile of course.

I loaded the camera to test it...guess I'll have rewind the film and pull out the O-ring and get my calipers out and measure the thing.

I looked at Southern-Nokonos's site......Looks like they repair camera but don't sell parts.

O ring sets were pretty common on the bay a year ago. But I wouldn't worry about them for shooting in rain. Unless you're planning to shoot consistently in total downpours. This is a camera meant to go down in serious uw pressure! good idea to get someone experienced to help install replacement o ring though.
