Hi all,

I have in front of me a nikkormat of the ft series.
It's shutter is stuck in the following manner:
Mirror up(doesnt respond to mirror raise lever)
Winding lever stuck as if cocked
shutter release depresses but doesnt do anything(cable too)
shutter closed.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Mike

Just received an FTn myself. I hazard a guess that it is the mirror lockup stopping the other functions. The slide for mirror lockup is stiff on mine but works. Possibly yours is very difficult to slide or damaged. Try more effort on the slide to get the mirror back down and hopefully everything else will work.🙂

I own four Nikkormats, two of them have exactly the same problem.

Nikkormats are good cameras but quite cheap nowadays, and a repair job for 50 Euros could buy a working camera.

The question is: can this common error actually be fixed at a reasonable price? Any experience to share?
