The best camera is one that still works!
A week or so ago I travelled to the northern New South Wales town of Nimbin. It was an innocent sleepy little country haven until the Aquarius Festival in 1973 ... this was basically Australia's equivalent of Woodstock. Many visitors remained after the festival and live to this day in and around Nimbin and it is now known for its hippy based lifestyle and a dominant drug culture that is largely ignored by the authorities aside from the occasional token bust to keep the bean counters in head office happy. (Cannabis is the main drug of trade although harder drugs are now becoming quite a problem)
Snapshots from the few hours I spent there on a very hot Monday (30deg+) ... taken with my Nikon F6 and Rollei Retro 100. The people in the photographs are made up of locals, tourists and the ever-present backpackers from all around the world, who come to this bohemian little town to experience its unusual offerings.
I'm actually quite keen to return and continue taking more photos and try and get an understanding of how this place functions and exists in such a conservative place as Australia! There is nothing like it anywhere else in this country!
