here's a story that few will be interested in but i'm tired, listening to leonard cohen and sitting at the little mac.
if you have been following the fuji 10-24 lens thread that i started you will know that i have been mulling over getting that lens. i really like the images coming from it.
but then i started to wonder if i'd be better off getting a new apple iPad pro, the smaller one. decided to check out the lens in person and just came back from that event. looking through the finder and checking from 10 to 16 to 23 really gave me the opportunity to see how that lens might work for me. i'm not sure that i have the energy needed to do a good job with it. the sale is on till sometime in january so i have more mull time available.
the big mistake was checking out the xpro2 camera. love it, feels great and i forgot how much i like the ovf, that extra bit of weight and small attached grip. so the decision has been made...no new iPad, no new lens but a new body. with luck i'll have the extra cash needed before christmas.

if you have a story that no one wants to hear...tell me!

Joe, I was going to order an X PRO 3 sometime tomorrow afternoon.
Alas, there is no such camera.
Plan to take a nap instead.

Last week I sold my Ricoh GXR with Leica M module and a Sigma DP2M, the plan was to buy Fuji XPro2 to be used with M lenses and as a travel camera when I do not want to take my M 240 with me. Now I am regretting selling both camera and not sure about the XPro2 any more. So, I have been sitting in front of my iMac checking all sorts of other alternatives, and then I read your post and considering if XPro2 would be a good replacement for my ‘loss’ again. Decision, decision…….

For what it's worth, I got an iPad Pro for work, and I use it to mark up pdf manuscripts with the Apple Pencil. It's an amazing device, the pencil especially. And the "true tone" color-adjusted screen makes it great to read books on, too, even at night, when the coolness of the display might otherwise be kind of harsh on the eyes.

Some personal drama this year led me to have to sell almost everything of value that I owned, including all my Leica stuff. But I'm kind of digging just using a Fuji X-E2 with 35/2, Canon P, and Minolta XD5 SLR. The XD5 is the real surprise. I've got the MD-mount 28/2.5 and 50/1.4 and it's a ludicrously inexpensive, beautiful kit. Maybe I'll spring for an 85 someday.

I would love an X-Pro2. Share your thoughts when you get it!

Great idea for a thread. I'm sure that nobody cares either that yesterday I went back and bought another M2 after having only sold the last one back in January to go for a year of nothing but Rolleiflex work. Loving the MF but I caved in at not having a Leica in the end....I also snagged an excellent 50mm 2.8 Elmar and near mint Elmarit 90mm v1, both in lovely brass chrome/silver and all three items made within a year or two of each other for a period correct enjoyable silver 60's set.

The Elmar replaces my 50mm collapsible cron which I foolishly also let go back in January. It was one of the truly rare ones with MINT glass however I am feeling better after having researched the words of many former owners of the cron who say they preferred the Elmar 2.8 for black and white film work which is why I bought it. I have yet to prove this to myself however but will find out soon enough I'm sure.

The Elmar also incredibly collapses down to be EVEN smaller than the cron on an M2 which I was truly amazed by. A great compact rig that I plan to enjoy. I think you can buy new Leica glass anytime but good condition older silver stuff isn't ever going to get more plentiful or less expensive I guess. I might get a 35mm v1 cron at some point.

There, like I said, nobody cares but I feel better for having put that out there. The good news is that my wife doesn't seem to be aware that this a newly purchased M2 and collapsible 50 and not the old one! (she might care if she did).

I'm also interested to hear of any new user X Pro 2 feedback.

Me, too, Darth!

I would ditch my PRO2 for a couple of X E3's
that is, IF it materializes and IF it meets our high expectations.

I'm essentially looking for a PRO2 with no Optical VF, a smaller, lighter body and a smaller, lighter price.

A story that no one wants to hear...? Hmmm, I have one...

At almost 70 with 50 years of photographic passion I'm now ...let's say very..."confused" about gear...

I like to shoot film with my old (and good) film cameras, but sometimes I feel the need of a good digital...because not always I like to scan...and I have no more a darkroom...

I think that most of the cameras on the market have an image quality which is more than ok for my needs, no doubt here.

So it's all about handling and simplicity of use, reliability and size...one or two lenses not more.

From one side I like classic controls and the Nikon DF was a good candidate...but it's large and I would like to have something small and the recent Oly Pen F is beautiful. But I always like to try something new and different, being "innovative" keeps my old brain alive and a very innovative cameras is the Leica T now TL about which I'm very curious. Perhaps too innovative and it seems the Fuji X PRO2 is very good and interesting, just read a review here on RFF...for sure the M 262 is very similar in use to my m7 and I already have the lenses...

Long story short: I still shoot film and scan, my only digital camera is a now six years old X1 with dust on the sensor...maybe one day...:)

Practically any contemporary digital camera with a decent sensor area will deliver what one needs (especially with raw files).

So the issues become: do I enjoy using the camera and lenses.

I'm reading this thread and printing off Xmas cards - have to be hand fed one at a time through my old Epson printer!
(Short boring story)

I just bought some Plus-X 35mm film for the cost of a used bulk loader.
It seemed no one else was interested, perhaps because it was in bulk.

... was blowing some leaves off the deck and mounted the snow tires since we got the first snow overnight.
I guess no one want's to know but you asked for it ;).
And I am contemplating getting a different camera bag, there you go :D

I was thinking of heading over to the Canadian consulate to apply for visas for the family. Everyone here is getting nervous about the spreading 'Trumpiness'.

Oh… about photography? I had the X-Pro2 for a couple of months and then decided to sell it and get the X-T2. Reasons: I've found that after going through many iterations of digital camera designs over the past 10 years, I've come to prefer electronic viewfinders and the feedback they give me. And I like tilting LCD's. And I like the grip on the X-T2 more than the X-Pro2's.

Few years back I modified my small Domke by cutting off the zipper and sewing in a button-loop top closure.
Have never decided if it's better or not. Works okay but so did the zipper.

My wife and i are going on an overseas trip in a few weeks' time so of course I've been mentally packing my camera bag for some time. I can't decide whether to take film or digital cameras, so every few days I ask my wife, "Film or digital?"
She always alternates her answer, smiling. she's no help at all. No one cares.
