sure, i paid more than i expected to for that lovely black mint rollei 40...who needs a big screen tv, i mean really, it's summer time and everything on the tube is a rerun anyway...

but i am curious what others think would be a fair/good deal for this lens?

i figure at worst i bumped up the future price of this little gem and at best i spent too much...

or did i?

Television will rot your brain, whatever you paid for the lens (and I have no clue what you paid) was a bargain compared to any deal you could get on a big screen TV, even if the TV was $10

I think you, as well as others, have said any item is worth what a person is willing to pay for it. No regrets so it was worth it.

But what you or anyone else might think it worth? Sorry, I haven't a clue.

It's a black version, so like the black CV Skopar 28/3.5 it commands a premium over the silver version. Might have been more expensive that you were expecting Joe, but you'll get most, if not all, your money back if/when you sell. Certainly a safer investment that shares, bonds, money in the bank

I paid a lot for a UC-Hexanon and had an inkling of remorse for a while, but not anymore. I've always wanted one and splurged to get a mint example in-box with everything. It's a fantastic lens. I would give up most of my lenses to keep this one.
All that said, I don't regret it at all. Neither should you. We're all going to see some great photos from the 40mm soon, I'm sure!

first, let me say that i have an ipd and am typing this on it right now...it is way cool...

second, i really have no regrets and should have been more clear and less 'funny' when writing this thread.

my real question is what do these lenses, in black, generally go for?
i tried to do a search on completed listings on ebay but can't seem to get a proper answer from that damn thing.
just wondering where i am on the 'how much did you pay' chart.

It's a black version, right? If so, its like the black CV Skopar 28/3.5 which commands a premium over the silver version. never gonna sell it...unless i need the money to feed my dogs.

If memory serves me right (points for a chairman kaga reference?), I have seen the black ones go for 600 - 800 if in mint condition. No clue what you paid though.

I've been without tv since that whole digital thing last year. By now I'm thinking I might sell a camera or two. By the way, when does the new season of Lost start?
