no replacement for a 50mm?

vizioneer, not sure why the confusion, especially if you have previously owned the 75 'lux. I need a 50 regardless of what other focal lengths that I use. The 75 is different than a 50. The recommendation to buy a VC lens is understandable: an inexpensive option. But again, you have owned a 75 and if you have used it AT ALL should know what this focal length is about. I like my 75 Summilux; it produces quite acceptable images at 1.4, but the depth of field is very narrow - especially in the near range. Sharpness/contrast is improved by 2.0, and by F4 is difficult to distinguish from the Summicron.

Alright I'm seeing the light...it's like cars. 35mm=Porsche Cayenne, 50mm=911 Carrera 4, and 75-90mm=Porsche Cayman S. Or sumtin' like that. The 50mm is just so right a lot of times.
