This is an inspiring video for me, Robert. I love how the photographer is doing whatever he believes will give his images perfection. I once had ambitions to use large format cameras, and I still have the Linhof 4x5 on some shelf, still unused by me. If we had only one main goal in life, then this is possible. The type of paper is quite interesting. He waits 3-5 years for it to be ready! Thank you for posting the link.

This guy is the real deal. It is humbling to see the attention to detail on the technical side and his aesthetic approach on the creative side. I have watched this video a few times and am always inspired to be better (hope it's working).

Thank you for the link. Excellent short film, enjoyed every minute. His process is quite inspiring. Would love to have the time and energy to devote to a single process.

What's really striking as well is the deep spirituality and respect for nature underpinning his work and his methods. Marvellous film, thanks for sharing.

Robert, thank you for sharing this video with us.
"You can just go out and shoot on the spot..
the photos turned out or the message captured in those photos
may not be so different than those of photos taken with time and care...
they may not be different for onlookers, but to me, they are very different"
This is wisdom. We as photographers constantly wringing our hands wondering what it is that makes us real or not. This man has chosen his path and he's content with what he has, regardless what the "onlookers" may say. Photography is to him, for himself first.
As for choosing a coarse washi paper as his support medium, I think it's a perfect match for the type of images that he creates. Good thing that he didn't listen to the naysayers.

Thanks, I loved that. Heartening to see someone with an ethos more substantial than, "if it feels good, do it."
