Noct 1.0 v Nikkor 50 1.4 give me some comparisons

People,
Let the man have his fun,if the man wants the challenge of doing macro with a RF,who are we to tell him go do it with a SLR?

Nocti images is what he wants...lets give him some(don't look at me). Here is the chance for you Nocti owners to show what your lens can do.

Search flickr for a user named moann. He shoots a lot with the Noctilux. Is THIS the type of photography you were thinking about?

Hey, thanks!

Over 20 posts and only one image...hope someone can produce a comparison.

Thanks in advance,

😉

If you're interested in out-of-focus, a 50 might not be the ideal lens.

This isn't exactly what you asked for, but here are some relative shots showing the depth of field of three lenses wide open. That way you can get an idea of whether the 50 is the best focal length.

First b&w is a Nikkor 5cm/1.4 at 1.4 and minimum focus (or close to it). This is the classic 1950s Nikkor, not the Millenneum.

Second, tighter b&w is a 85/2 at close focus (3.5 feet) wide open.

Third (color) shot is 135/3.5 at close focus (5 feet) wide open.

Smaller subjects such as plants, flowers, etc. are part of my research right now and would like to get some serious bokeh going on...

I like that 85 lens, it makes a nice image!

Dave,

For close-up shots of small objects or very tight portraits, you'd better use an SLR with a fast short tele. Here are some shots with the 1.5/85mm Helios 40-2 wide open :

For overall comparisons, I have tried out a Noctilux 50mm/1.0, a Nikkor 50mm/1.1, a Canon 50/0.95, ... etc. For flower macros, use a macro lens.

That's true. My RF shots were as close as a rangefinder camera can focus. An SLR will get in much closer.
