42.5/1.2 Nocticron
"The name "NOCTICRON" was defined by Leica Camera AG for this lens type continuing LEICA's legendary elements of large diameter, high quality lenses"

At least this time Leica picked a name that will give unique Google hits unlike the M (240)

It could be quite a nice lens : I never warmed to MF on m43, so this new lens appeals more than the Voigtlander 42.5/0.95.

One of the reasons why I left m43rds was the fact that Leica consistently did not work with Panasonic on a 17.5mm Summicron which would ideally compliment the 25/1.4 and existing 45/2.8.

The exsting 45/2.8 is an astonishingly good lens and adding another in a similar focal range is, imho, a complete waste of time.

Mind you, no one ever accused Leica of making good product management decisions so I suppose this is pretty much par for the course.

Sorry to be a troll but that is my honest reaction!

It feels like that they have chosen this name due to the fact that lens will have noctilux-grade light-gathering capabilities but with cron-level depth of field due to smaller size of m4/3 sensors. Thus nocticron.

I'm also quite happy to see an aperture ring. Let's hope that this is going to be a new m4/3 trend.

what the... strange name. Sounds like a cross between necromancer and narcoleptic.

Perfect lens for photographing the zombie apocalypse. f1.2 for those out of power nights and 85mm equivalent for a safe working distance.
😀

Nice to see more options for m4/3. I am not holding my breath as I guess the price tag will be hefty but seems a great option otherwise.

Noctinatrix....the new dominatrix by leica...get all on your knees...and buy!!!!

a 25 f1.2 would be very interesting thou...😀😀😀

smart move by panasonic. ibis on the gx7 and ois on the nocticron will be great for video.

makes me impatient for the x-pro2, so panasonic has something going for them.

The existing 45/2.8 is an astonishingly good lens and adding another in a similar focal range is, imho, a complete waste of time.

I used to own the 45/2.8 and while sharp in the center, it required stopping down to at least 5.6 for it to get sharp in the corners. I suspect I may have had a dud copy, based on the general praise on the lens.
