When the Nocticron was announced, the thought of cancelling my Voigtlander 42.5mm preorder crossed my mind. As its primary use would be for video, and often run and gun, having AF ability would be very useful. The difference between f1.2 and f0.95 isn't that much; perhaps the difference between ISO 800 and 1250 under the same lighting conditions. And I'm still toying with that idea while my credit card has still yet to be charged.
On the weekend, I was forced to shoot in very dark conditions that pushed a f2.8 lens into ISO 2500+ territory, which looks pretty nasty on the GH3 when using 1080 50p IPB MOV. The CV 25/0.95 allowed me to shoot at ISO 800, which gave me wonderful results. I just wonder if f1.2 would have made the grade, or whether I should have that extra speed just in case something even more challenging arises.
The tradeoff between a f1.2 lens with OIS and AF, vs a manually focusing f0.95 lens. Hm. It would feel silly to have both, not to mention hurt my wallet at this juncture. It is notable that focus pulling with the CV Noktons is miles ahead any focus by wire m43 lenses at this time. But grabbing critical focus is overall much faster with a Panasonic AF lens on the GH3.
