The rumors have been swirling for a while, and now the images have leaked. It appears this lens is just around the corner. Who's gonna get it and how much will it cost?

People who bought into the GameStop short squeeze...

This lens might just become the most expensive Leica lens ever, barring special editions maybe. So I will probably not even get to see one in my lifetime...

Modern aspherical element manufacturing methods will make it less costly to produce than the original. This will not, of course, necessarily influence the price in that direction. I also do not know what the list price of the f1.2 Noctilux was when it was introduced in 1966 - I assume it was stratospheric.

Edit - wow, 2000 posts! Not bad for 15 years on this username.

i can't see this one being way more expensive than 50/0.95 so i m gonna say with this being "limited" edition, 16000$ retail.

There’s only 100 pcs of the silver chrome version but 1800 pcs of the black which is not very rare by Leica standards. Surely there will be a BP version eventually. I’d say 10,000 Euro for the black chrome. 🙂

Looks like Viogtlander knock-off. I don't see any reason to waste money on Leica Camera AG lenses like this. Only if you need to feel good after you post some slightly OOF images with bokeh which cheap made in China 50 1.1, 0.95 lens do 🙂 .

... Who's gonna get it and how much will it cost? ...

My prediction: The black version will be a standard production item and sell for < $8,000 in the US. The silver model will be limited - very limited - production (around 100 units) and priced at least twice that of the black one.

If I were still working (not on a fixed income) I'd pick one up in a heartbeat!
