Hi everybody.
A humble "real world" comparison of the two fast 35mm lenses. I very much like the softness of the old Leica lens, but the Nokton, apart from being so large and heavy, is a very very nice lens, isn't it? I love the very shallow DOF. See for yourself, if interested. (M6, APX 100, Rodinal 1+50, coolscan V)
Greetings from Scotland...

is this an english vs. scottish thing?

Having distinct preferences is wonderful, but they are meaningless to others unless contextualized or explained...
The Nokton is sharper throughout, from center to corners, while the Summilux has better shadow detail. Bokeh is also quite different. The Nokton is very smooth; the summilux again preserves a little more detail. Light sources in the photo look to my eyes rounder and slightly more pleasing through the Summilux. The summilux also seems to exhibit some veiling flare, doesn't it, or is that camera shake? I bet if the Nokton had been stopped down to 1.4, it would be seriously better than the Summilux.

the pre asph Summilux is a real knock out.
but the fast 35/f1.2 CV is a sweet lens.
it is the best 35mm CV out there.
