Nokton 40 1.4 lens focussing sticky and noisy

My 1-year-old Nokton 40 1.4 has a crappy focussing mount. I know people complained a bit about this when the lens first came out. It's a weird mount; you cannot focus and turn the aperture ring at the same time.

But now mine makes a horrible squeek when I focus, and you can feel the rough, metal friction. Is there some way to lube this thing myself?

The outer focus helical is directly accessible when taking the mounting
flange off. Try if this fixes your problem.

I can certainly do that on mine (a few months old). Sorry to hear about your problem. Mine works well and I assume your can be adjusted or repaired if need be.
 
Might it still be under warrantee? I had the smae problem with one I purchased new and got it fixed. Now it is as good as my 35/2 'Cron, smooooth. Check, worst they can say is no.

yes PLUMBERS GREASE will work well for brass . plumber's use it to lube the brass vavles in faucets and bathroom fixture's . should come in a small can like shoe polish . just use a small amount on a brush and focus the camera back and forth to work the grase into the threads .
