Dear all,

I just bought a second hand Cosina Voitglander 40mm Nokton F1.4 SC version from a good owner. The lens is in mint condition and consider myself lucky to own one.

However, any user out there attached a filter to protect the lens? Since mine is single coated version, will it defeats the purpose if I get a 43mm UV (clear filter) multi-coated and put it on the Nokton? If not, other suggestion would greatly appreciate.

In Malaysia, it is very hard to get a single coated UV filter. Hope someone can shed some light.

*Apologise if similar question has been posted in the previous thread.

Cheers.

Regards,

The multi-coating on the filter is to stop reflections, I use B+W MRC UV filters, I did a test when there was some thread about whether they should be used or not and couldn't tell an image taken with and without.

So, no, they shouldn't effect your contrast/colour, but there is the extra chance of flair - get the LH-5 hood, it's saved my Nokton from quite a few bashes.

I use a Nokton 40mm SC with a B+W KR 1.5 Skylight filter to keep wet sneezes off the lens.

Look in my Gallery to see. Any of the 'With People' photos. Coughs and colds are common in these locales. And worse.
