I suppose at some point I'll "need" one of these, but the 35 Ultron is really a fine lens.

About a month ago and before the news broke, I got myself a 35 Ultron. Perhaps this was a mistake. If I had waited, I might have picked one up alot cheaper from the glut that will appear on the market once the Nokton hits the streets.
I dont think you made a mistake. In fact I think the price of the Ultron will stabilize and start to increase a bit when people realize this was the last of the modern fast screw mount 35's and can use them with both LTM and M's. The lens I expect to see being sold off will be the 40mm Noktons when people decide they can have a 35mm to match their 35mm framelines.

Mainlinephoto the Aussie distributer/retailer for CV stuff has the new 35 1.4 listed at $A595 and the L6 lenshood at $A65. Which is the ballpark price for most CV stuff Downunder. At that price they'll sell boatloads.

I got an Ultron this summer while I save for a summilux but now this little guy, which can focus down to .7 has my FULL attention. I will have to see some shots and just how sharp it is but since the bank account isn't growing any faster I will get it if the results look good. That will put me up to three CV 35 lenses!

Go check out the Nippon Camera page http://www.nippon-camera.com/monthly.php# and click the third bulleted link to see a small picture of the new nokton mounted on an Ikon. I wish I were back in Japan so I could hold this magazine in my hands.

I don't know about you, but I think a $500 price would sell better than a $1000 price.mdspace said:but the dealers price will be around 65,000 yens, I think the price will be around $500 dlls.
Unless you're in the Pentagon.
I still am impressed they went with "f/1.4" and not "f/1.5" or "f/1.6"
