Nokton f1.1 and Alien Skin Bokeh with M8/9 cheap Noctilux?

I was on the Alien Skin web site and am wondering if one were to use the Bokeh software with the 50 mm f1.1 Nokton could one get the look of the new Noctilux? I guess one could, but the noct probably handles flare better than the Voigtlander. Another thought: How about using the 35mm 1.2 Nokton on the M8 and using the Alien Bokeh software to give Noctilux Bokeh. This would give the look and the frame coverage as well as much improved focus accuracy with the 35mm focal length. Same would apply for the M9 except 35mm would be 35mm. Sounds like something cool to experiment with. Any thoughts?

I guess you can get almost every type of lens effect with some kind of software, however here at RFF I think most of us would like to get the effects from genuine photograhpy, i.e. working with different new and old lenses in order to get different effects without having to manipulate through software.

I think you should just enjoy the Nokton's own particular qualities. It's a wonderful compromise between modern contrast/sharpness and lovely highlights wide open. The bokeh is very nice, though rather controlled.

It sort of fits in between the older Leica f1.0 Noct., and Recently released Leica 0.95 Noct. Just generally (not gettting into specifics or exceptions)...the sharpness wide open sort of falls between the two and the bokeh much more neutral than the f1.0 Noct, sort of skin to the new 0.95, except not quite as soft and difffuse, especially that it is not quite as fast a lens as the 0.95 and also that it places the subject in a different location with respect to the depth of field. As others expressed, enjoy it for its own unique abilities.

I have a Nokton f1.1 and enjoy the unique characteristics of the lens.
Yes, it's no f1.0 Noct but it is, in my opinion, a great compromise with it's own offerings.
I don't think I would be content with the image by trying to change the bokeh to mimic the Noct via software.
Just my 2 cents.

If you want Noctilux bokeh for 150 USD, just get an old Leica lens like the Summar or Summitar, and shoot it wide open from 1-1.5m distance to your subject. You will get some usable dof and a great Leica style background rendering.
