On July 9, 2017, the Chevy BelAir Nomads from 1955, ’56, and ’57 began rolling into Roanoke, VA to gather at the Sheraton Hotel for their annual convention. A week of socializing, comparing customs to stock rebuilds, and day trips was ahead of them.

I took these photos with a Nikon S2 and W-Nikkor·C 3.5cm 1:3.5 on Kodak T-Max 100, and a Bessa R2S with SC-Skopar 25mm 1:4 on Kodak Ektar 100.

Dear farleymac,

These are very nice images of some of my favorite cars. I'm partial to the brown and cream and white '57 in the middle of your series.

I understand the need to keep better tires under these cars than were available during their heyday but I cannot stand oversized disproportioned rims.

Surely one of these beauties rode on body color painted steel wheels with baby moon hubcaps like a true sleeper car?

Thanks for sharing.

"My Old '55" was straight stock, Tim, but I didn't get a shot of the wheels.

I'm partial to the stock ones too. Bonus points if its a six-cylinder.

Not a Nomad, but this guy here is a 4-door. I wonder how many of these have been scrapped over the years just because they're 4-doors? Sorry to hijack your thread but at least its was taken with an S2. Come to think of it, my S2 is older than the car!
