Since I don't have photos from my Canonet as of yet to show all you people, I decided to upload some of my non-rangefinder shots to my gallery. I have one now. It's nifty.

For those who don't want to go to the gallery, here are the pics. All shot with a Nikon FE and 50mm f/1.4 Nikkor AI on Kodak Ultra Color at ISO 400. Most of them have been taken into Photoshop for contrast/brightness adjustments due to my not liking the film.

The street in front of my house. Underexposed. I was surprised at the fact that this shot was underexposed as I had another from a previous roll that wasn't. I think it was the film.

This is of the signs at the end of a dead end road by my house.

This is a reflection of the trees in the water after a thunderstorm. I really liked how this one turned out. I believe that I was shooting at f/2.8 on this one.

This is of the sign at the beginning of the dead end street on my block. It seems to pretty much cover my mood about living in this town as of right now. A dead end with no outlet.

Our mailbox before we actually had the damn thing fixed. I wanted to wait a while to fix it, but other forces were at work that prevented me from doing so. Made for nice mood photography.

A tree in my back yard. The previous owner of the house decided that the best way to get the cable wire out of the way was to tie it to the tree. Kinky.

And last but certainly not least, my 'famous' alley shot. Everyone I show this to likes it for some reason. Even though the whole alley isn't in focus, they seem to appreciate the composition. I've also noticed that it seems as though the camera wasn't straight, but I can assure you it was.

And that's about it. Thought I'd at least show you that I DO actually have an interest in photography besides the whole collecting gear part.

Nicely done, Stephanie! I like the mailbox and the reflection shots.. kinda stark and grim, definitely strong emotions in those.

Nice shots. You have a similar eye for detail as I do in that you take photo's of stuff others say is a waste of film.

Hi Stephanie,

On your shot of the street in front of your house, I am not so sure that it is the film that is causing it to be underexposed. I think it has to do with the Nikon's light meter wanting to average out the light it is reading. If you open up this photo in Photoshop and look at the histogram you will see that there are two very large spikes in the histogram one on each end of the scale. What this means is that there are areas of very little light and areas of very much light in your photo and an "average" of these values gives you the results that you posted. Which I am sure is not what you intended to record.

I will try to post photos that have the levels adjusted for the shadows, your photo, and one with levels adjusted for the highlights as a comparison. These are all from the same photo.

My old college statistics professor once told us that if you are bare footed and have one foot on a block of dry ice and one foot in a raging bon fire and then averaged the temperatures you should be reasonalbly comfortable.

All of those scenes are very familiar to me as I am from a small town in Iowa also.

The photo, surprisingly, turned out the way I wanted it. I think that, had I not left it to chance and used an actual shutter speed instead of leaving it on A (which I'm not sure is actually accurate and these may prove it isn't) the photos would have turned out exposed more evenly.

You need to move. But for depressing photography, your city is ideal. ;)

great shots... and i love the colour rendition of this film. too bad it isn't available in singapore :((

Hey, don't go badmouthing Iowa! Every region has its good and bad points. I wouldn't want to be in Georgia in August. Sure wish we had some of Iowa's water. It's gonna be a dry summer where I'm located.
