Great pics Stewart.
Love the super wide shot of the shop.
Jem's becoming quite the celebrity.

Looks like you've been to the real camera shop, I picked up my first rangefinder there the other day (a Bessa R). He mentioned my opertune timing as there was a group of rangefinder enthusiasts coming in the next day. Perhaps i'll see you all at the next meet up.

Note the lack of people in my pics, maybe I'm not a street shooter?

Atget was one of the great street shooters, people appear only rarely in his work.
See "Bystander A History of Street photography" Westebeck & Meyerowitz
a truly great book.

That's good news. So RFF might put up with my people-less pics.
As a side note, on the evening of the day of our Manchester outing I received a phone call from my sister, demanding to know what I was doing in Manchester with that suspicious looking crew. So I, who hasn't been in Manchester centre for years, was spotted by my sister from a bus that she has never used before that day.
Maybe a disguise will help next time
Dave
Edit: I must say that I was very impressed in the way that Deb took pics of people (who saw full well that they were in the frame) in such a cool and unhurried manner. I have "the worry" that I would not get away with that. Full marks to Deb.

Yes, that skill is hard to define, but I think a lot of it is about openness and body language.
I think being a petite lady helps too.
On the other hand Dave - if you were to don a ginger wig and wear lipstick I think people would run screaming! So that's probably not the disguise to go for.
Love the Gargoyle shot BTW - where abouts was it taken?

The Gargoyle was on the fountain (with others) in Albert Square, that's the town hall in the background. I took a few pics of this, this one being the nearest and widest aperture on the J8.

Hi Folks,
Just in case anyone is interested, after the meet I went back home, listed a bunch of unused stuff on the famous auction site to raise some money, and then went back to The Real Camera Company today and got that CV 35/1.4
I shot a few rolls with it and it feels really nice - very solidy made and everything about it is smooth, and it's seriously compact for a 1.4. I'm too tired to develop them tonight, but I'll get them done tomorrow - I'll post my thoughts and some results on a more appropriate board when they're done.

Congratulations Alan, that lens did feel good. I'm pleased that you bought it. Hope to see some example shots from it.
The visit to the Real Camera Company ended in some substantial purchases from a few members of our group. hope to see some pics from all that kit.

Don't worry I'll post some shots with my 39mm red filter soon!
Contgrats on the new lens Alan. It certainly was amazingly compact. I look forward to the shots too.

Hi Folks,
I've put some first results (and some waffle about them) on the CV Forum.

Just had a quick peek at the pics.
Given it's size and aperture range it looks like a great all rounder.
If you were travelling light I think this would be the lens to pack.
