Hello,
Fedka (Yuri) http://www.fedka.com/catalog/ is showing brand new old stock Jupiter 8-1 50mm lenses for sale. A tempting thought to get a brand new FSU lens especially the J8. Anyone have any experience or insights on this particular lens? Is it the same optically as the older J8's? How about mechanical quality?
Thanks and I look forward to your insights!

I bought one. It appears to be almost identical to the late-model black J-8. I'm a little disappointed with mine. The aperture sticks slightly at f/22, and the second set of aperture markings on the bottom of the lens do not line up correctly. I've only put one roll through it so far ... the images are nice, but I think my 80's J-8 has nicer bokeh. All in all, I prefer my 80's J-8.

That is weird looking bokeh alright.
Not too pleasing, or very old school Sonnar like.

Thanks brachal, I was afraid there might be issues and that the newest version would be the weakest.....its what I have always heard about the Russian stuff..... the older the better sort of. I know the newer Kievs don't feel as well done as the older 4's and 4a's.
I think I'll pass and just keep using the 8's I have now.
Thanks again!
