Not A Poll: What Camera Will You Buy In The Next 12 Months?

A couple of months ago, I would have said none.

Now, after my accidental purchase of an M5, I'd like a silver chrome M5 body.

When the X100 came out I thought of it kinda seriously, but the price turned me off. Then I recalled the "retro" Nikon Coolpix P7000 (which is quite conveniently priced), and I'd like one too.

Chances are I won't get either... 'cuz I'll be quite busy playing with my black M5. :) The story of my life.

Hopefully nothing. The 5D is a workhorse, no complaints. The GA645 is everything I've wanted in a small MF, no complaints. I can see picking up a lens or two if there's some work there to support it. If I found a silly deal on a Linhof Press or a nice G2 kit, I'd be sorely tempted.

I need more film. I need chemistry. I need a film scanner. I need a large printer.

Not sure, I just bought (traded for) a Pentax Super Program and picked it up today from the "Camera Repair" shop (see Camera Repair Shop List) after a CLA and new a Focusing screen.

I'd like a X100, but, I'd have to sell my M5 for that... NOT HAPPENING, NO WAY, NO HOW!! I want "Bubba" to have a stable home and family environment

I'd say, a Minolta CLE would be nice. Mounting my CV 28/1.9 would be a nice combo, with an external VF when needed, I guess.

But, in reality.... No Extra funds = No more major purchases, for a while.

Very likely: Fuji X100
If I can find one: Horseman VH-R or VH
Probably: Toyo 45CF (or a similar field camera)

- Replacing my Contax G2 with a Leica M6 or Zeiss Ikon.
- Picking up a Sigma DP2s as replacement for my (broken) DP2
- Really eyeing on the Fujifilm GF670W or Mamiya 6 + 43mm, if funds and shooting opportunities permit it....

Going back to 2010 when the thread started, in hindsight would you make the same choices again?

No regrets with getting a Leica M9 and Ricoh GRD-III that year.

There should be a special notation for these zombie threads.
2010? Really?
Maybe we could turn it into “What camera introduced in 2010 are you now going to buy since it’s used price has fallen to affordability?”

I’m thinking of getting a Olympus EPL-1.

Unless one of my favored cameras die (fingers crossed one will not) I am much more likely to buy lenses. I am a bit addicted as I get a kick out of trying them. I suppose though if put to the test and I had to say what camera I might buy it would be a mirrorless camera most likely and 5 will get you 10 that it would be a Sony A7 model of some description.

I say this reluctantly because I do not feel I really love these cameras necessarily, but they are so good that I feel it may be inevitable. And most desirable of all in my case, the later A7 variants support Techart and other firms' AF adapters, meaning I can at long last get AF with my Leica M lenses (and pretty much any other kind of lens I might care to adapt by the simple expedient of stacking adapters - there seem to be more and more "XYZ mount" to Leica M mount adapters coming onto the market, which I surmise are designed specifically for this purpose.)

But then again that might not happen - I usually buy second hand as its cheaper than buying new. I have never found that buying last year's model ever cost me much if anything in image outcomes at least in practical terms (usually just a few fewer "bells and whistles" some of which often irrelevant to my work in any event). As I am probe to buying cameras locally rather than on eBay when I have such a camera in my hands and as a result "fall for it" buying second hand means it is dependent to some extent on what becomes available on the market and what $ I have to spend. I must admit I rather fell into the M4/3 system this way - a snap purchase of a camera on terms too good to pass up. It hooked me onto that system largely because back then there were few native Sony lenses and no other real system competitors, there were lots of high quality native M4/3 lenses available and the system is ready made for adapting vintage lenses. While I enjoy using M4/3 I am not convinced however it is what I want long term as the camera world moves to bigger and bigger pixel counts and relatively small sensor cameras have an obvious disadvantage.

A little surprised I don't seem to have any earlier posts in this thread...
Pretty sure I bought something in 2010, just can't recall what.
I did post about getting a Canon SX20 in 2009 but didn't buy one after all.
But, after re-reading my quote from the manual :
In regular use, small amounts of smoke may be emitted from the flash.
I think I regret not getting one. :D

I’m having serious thoughts about selling all of my Fuji kit (minus the X100F, which I’ll only let go of when the X100V arrives). When the Sony A7R IV lands, I need to borrow or rent one. I’d really like to get into a nice full frame body to make better use of my vintage lenses with, which is less fun on a crop body for me.
