I was searching for some samples of Fomapan 400 shots having bought a whole bunch of 100ft Arista EDU film (rebadged fomapan).

using image.google.com, i noticed that google returned more nude pictures with "fomapan 400" than say, Tri-x 400.

i conclude one or all of the following may be occuring:

* a few websites with a lot of nude pics with fomapan 400 skewing the search engine.

* eastern europeans like fomapan and art-nudes

* fomapan 120 format is the go-to film for art-nudes, especially with rodinal 1+25

Funny, I noticed the same. I have started developing both the two mentioned emulsions in Caffenol just recently - last in a long line of films in the stuff. And when searching the web for clues as to where to start, I saw a lot of artsy nude stuff on Fomapan, but less than nothing of the same on Tri-X. I drew the conclusion that nude art in Eastern Europe is considered more art than other parts of the world, I am probably wrong.

With all seriousness, okay, with some seriousness, what are folks experience with shooting fomapan and skin tones, when souped in Rodinal? I used to love the look of AgfaPan 100 souped in Rodinal when it came to skin tones, but now that AgfaPan is history, I would love to find a substitute.

Best,

Referring to the OP: I believe this is a symptom of two things:

1) Fomapan is more readily available in the former "Eastern Bloc".

2) The attitudes towards nudes in the "Eastern Bloc" are less morbid than in the so-called Western Hemisphere.

This explains why most Eastern European photographers exploit this (curious to them) shock-factor and ride the buzz generated for them.

BTW, doing an image search for Tri-X yields a lot of children. Would this mean that Tri-X shooters have children, unlike, say, Ilford XP2 shooters, who tend to get married a lot? Based on a Google search whose results are based on how photos are tagged.

If answers to these questions were clear-cut, any scientific research could be conducted solely on Google search results.

So, yes, understood it's not a serious post! 🙂
