The focus helical for the 3.5/45 Apotar is Left Handed.

Just thought you'd like to know, before you spent a lot of time trying to separate the first and second elements.

You're welcome, Hans. But it still takes a 3-5 day soak in alcohol, and application of heat to break the buggers loose.
