...Don't dishwash a developing tank and reels.
They came out caked in cat food and coffee residue.

Anyone have an effective way to clean plastic tanks out? I have an Omega tank and they got a little caked in chemistry residue, particularly the reels and lid.

There's a chemical called CLR available that is used for cleaning coffee pots, tea pots etc. You just soak for a while and it removes almost any type of build up.

I would not put any of my development kits near anything edible (pets or people).

Switch to *good quality* metal tanks and reels, you won't have to worry about those being caked in anything. They last longer too.

I've found with my Patterson kit that the bearing start binding with the chemical mix.
I simply put the reels into the tank with really hot soapy water and agitate like crazy, drain and rinse a few times and dry. But I do like the CLR idea too! Peter

Maybe run the dishwasher with tanks when you are not doing dishes. I had a big dishwasher that when I deflated my Jaguar tires with chrome spokes could just accommodate (one at a time), it worked great. At least, until one night my wife got up for a glass of water.
