Notes from the road. A project.

Great shots - I especially like no. 5 - it seems so desolate, and it really can tell a lot of stories depending on the viewer and his/her mind when viewing. I like the square format very much, partly because you make good use of it and partly because I never was very good at using it; inspiring indeed - guess I'll have to practise now...

Thank you Konicaman for the feedback. I must admit that I initially doubted the square format, because I do not have much experience with it. I suppose it as a rule for this project and try to learn step by step. I also found it inspiring.

Chi ben comincia...WHo is starts in a good way ...Bravo Luigi!

I like the idea behind your project. And I agree with Vince about a sense of solitude but in my opinion without sadness. Maybe because in my working life I had to drive a lot alone...the square format helps to concentrate on the image, your eyes have not to go right or left to look for the main point in the photo (I'm in a square mood in these days!).
Looking at your photos seems me to ear the Ry Cooder guitar playing...bravo, I hope to see more ciao

Grazie Robert for your supportive words! I much like the reference to Ry Cooder (I love hear its music in the car during long trips. Next week he comes with me...).
Ciao

Thank you Konicaman. A nice thing about this series is that I also realize, after shooting, a lot of things. There is always something I don't saw when I was on the road.

Thank you mfogiel for the feedback and the link.
All the images are taken in Campania, South Italy, near Paestum.
Actually Friedlander (and his "America by car") is among the references for my project, as the work of others photographers (Walker Evans, Robert Frank, Josef Koudelka, Robert Adams, etc.).
Another inspirational source, for me now, is "Errance" by Raymond Depardon.

There are some lovely images here Luigi. What time of day are you out photographing? I am inclined towards the square format myself. Stefan
