Nouveau Leitz?

I've been with the forum for a while now and have never seen such a preponderance of "I've got a Leica...I want a Leica...I'll die if I don't get a Leica...my Leica is here...waiting for my Leica..." as I have in the last few months.

Please, everyone buy one as soon as possible so we can level the playing field and move past this nouveau riche obsession. Do this now because as we all know your life will be grand and fabulous with a Leica so why wait? Without one...well, you are doomed to mediocrity (and what could be worse) 🙂.

Now, I've never held a Leica, so I don't really know what all the fuss is about. I've come close recently to buying one but was diverted by a Hexar. Well I've had the Hexar for a couple of weeks now and haven't yet won any prizes so I guess it must be because I don't have a Leica. 😀

Now if I were to buy a Leica what would there be to lust after 😕

Truth is, I want one ( I already have the L glass) and I know when I get one (she will be mine!) that I'll start to imagine that a Nikon S?? will make my life complete. maybe I should just take up fishing 🙂

I think (hope) this is just some fun. I have no prejudices as far as cameras are concerned - analogue or digital. In fact I have been lusting after an FSU cam ever since I saw this http://www.geocities.com/fzorkis/

Problem I have with FSUs is that I haven't a clue how you know what is a good one and where you might get a good one.

I've also been lusting after Canon Ps and 7s since we had the RFF beauty contest and Nikons since Brian (?) bought a new one recently. Basically I love all cameras and sometimes I even like to go out and use them 🙂

i just thought the original comment was tongue in cheek and wanted to join in some.

i know i have heard that some think we are turning into a leica oriented forum but there still seems to be a good mix as far as i can see.
lots of canon, nikon and fsu gear talk.

i don't worry too much about it.

i do have a leica now but it has canon glass on it so i'm kinda schizophrenic i guess.

maybe we are running out of things to discuss so we are turning on each other.
there seems to be a propensity towards personal attacks of late as opposed to gear talk or photo gazing.

i for one have taken a chill pill, along with 3 rolls of photos this past weekend and i feel much better.

i highly recommend it for anyone experiencing a bout of bitchiness😉

H-H, thanks for clearing this up for me! I never knew until now that the reason I still have to work for a mediocre living, instead of being retired at age 30 on a Caribbean island, is because I never owned a leica. I, like an idiot, used "off-brand" cameras instead, and am doomed to failure for it. D'oh!

I read this thread title and thought it would be just another happy Leitz user , positively disappointed now. 😉

Because I read recently at RFF that Zeiss is for pros and Leica for amateurs I bought a 1938 Zeiss Tengor Box last week, with a one element 5,6/105 Goerz lens, for 3,89 Euro. 😎
But I thought putting up a Hallelujah thread for this buy rather would be understood as the the poor attempt of a provocation, from a poor old fart, suffereing from the "sour grapes" syndrome !! 😀 😀
