Now, how far did I push that roll?

Hi there,

I've seemed to gotten myself into a fine pickle. I have a bunch of rolls of HP5+ and Tri-X that I shot anywhere from ISO 400 up to 3200 but during a period of extreme slackness, did not mark down how far I pushed each roll.

What's the best way to develop them now? I seem to recall someone mentioning a way of stand development (maybe with rodinal) that meant that it didn't matter too much.

I usual develop with HC-110 dilution H. Looking at the curve shape from here, my guess would be that I'd want a developer with an S-curve rather than an Upswept Curve like HC-110. But this is just a guess...

What do people suggest?

Thanks in advance!

I've had good luck pushing Tri-X in Rodinal, especially when my metering was iffy or non-existent. Look for p. Lynn Miller's posts on the subject.

Since the exposures are all over the place, I'd use Diafine. Everything from 400-1600 should be useable. Can't vouch for the 3200. You'll probably get some recoverable images from those rolls, but they might need a bit more work in Photoshop or in the darkroom.

Hi everyone, thanks for all your helpful advice. Looks like diafine is the way to go.

Hi Jamie123, thanks for the correction. 😉
